SUMMARY:Family Board Game Night
DESCRIPTION:Kick off the weekend with a fun evening of playing board games with other families! FOSB is hosting a Board Game Night on November 18 in the school cafeteria. Bring your own games to share\, or just come and play what others have brought. This is meant to be a casual after-dinner gathering and a way to meet other parents and kids while playing some fun games. We expect this may be more appealing to the middle school crowd\, but all are welcome! Come on in through the 18th street entrance. We hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Monthly Board Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Updated location: Our November board meeting will be in person in room 203\, across from the school library (second floor). \nThere will also be a virtual option for those who can not attend in person. Look for the Zoom link in November’s Weekly Bulletins. \nThis month’s FOSB meeting includes the opportunity to vote in additional directors. Salmon Bay parents\, guardians\, and teachers are automatically FOSB members\, with a full voice and vote on matters that come before us\, so why become a director? This helpful page on the FOSB website explains the various types of involvement. Directors make a commitment to attend monthly meetings and participate in important discussions on topics like the school budget\, FOSB activities\, and general direction of the organization. Interested individuals should email Jackie and Caitlin\, FOSB Co-chairs\, at fosbchair@gmail.com. We hope you’ll consider joining us! \nWe are pleased to coordinate onsite childcare during the FOSB meeting for potty independent children. Please RSVP by filling out this form if you plan to utilize the free childcare.

SUMMARY:Direct Giving Campaign
DESCRIPTION:The Direct Giving Campaign is FOSB’s fall fundraising event. Instead of selling cookie dough\, wrapping paper\, or popcorn\, we ask you to contribute directly to our work to support Salmon Bay School. \nOur goal this year is to raise $75\,000 by December 16th\, 2022. Please contribute if you can — any amount is welcome! Donations are tax deductible. \nFOSB helps close the gap between the programming that is funded by Seattle Public Schools and the support our students need. With rising costs and the much-anticipated return of many of our signature programs and events\, we need your help more than ever. The funds we raise will be used this school year. Learn more about Direct Giving and follow our fundraising progress! \n\nDonate online: https://salmonbayschool.maestroweb.com\nDonate by check: Write a check payable to FOSB\, then deliver it to the school office or mail it to: FOSB Direct Giving ℅ Salmon Bay School\, 1810 NW 65th St\, Seattle\, WA 98117.\nAsk your friends and family to help. Send the donation link https://salmonbayschoo.maestroweb.com to others you think would be willing to support our school in exchange for never being asked to buy cookie dough\, wrapping paper\, or popcorn.\nAsk your employer to match your donation. If your employer matches employees’ charitable contributions\, they could double\, triple\, or quadruple your contribution! FOSB’s Tax ID is 91-1622350.  Contact Jerri Harden (jlharden@halcyon.com) if you need help processing your employer match.

DESCRIPTION:The Families of Color Committee Presents…  Musical Merienda\n“Merienda” is a light meal or sweet/savory mid-afternoon snack and is observed in places like Spain\, Portugal\, Italy\, as well as Hispanic America\, Philippines\, North Africa (Morocco)\, and Brazil. For this event\, it’s basically a snack-y social hour set to the tune of a favorite BIPOC artists playlist!\n\nBring any mid-afternoon snack you’d like to share (Hot Cheetos? Capri Sun? Mexican pastries from down the street? Hand pies? Fruit?). Can’t bring anything? Don’t stress about it- we’ll also be providing an array of our favorite snacks to share with you too. All families of color\, students of color\, and educators of color at SB are welcome to join in the fun. \nWe’ll meet in the school library on Wednesday\, October 12 at 4:30pm. Come get to know our communities of color here at the school at our first event of the year!\n\nIf you have questions\, have song suggestions for the playlist\, and/or would like to help support community spaces for families and students of color\, please reach out via email to Jasmine Pulido (jasmine.m.pulido@gmail.com) or Kay Doherty (Kaydumlao@gmail.com).

SUMMARY:After School Program registration begins
DESCRIPTION:The FOSB After School Programs committee is excited to announce the return of programming for this year! We have a few classes starting this fall (Oct. 17 -Dec. 16; no classes Thanksgiving week) and are hoping to have even more offered in the winter session.  \nRegistration will open at 8am on Monday\, October 10. Full class descriptions\, schedule\, and cost can be found at the Salmon Bay 6crickets webpage: https://www.6crickets.com/schools/US/WA/Seattle/Salmon-Bay-K-8-School/155?refer&school=155&utm_medium=school&utm_source=schools    \nBecause of limited offerings this fall\, for now we are limiting class registrations to one class per student. \nWe will need a parent volunteer to attend each class for the entire session (or two parents to attend half the classes). To volunteer\, please fill out this Google form: https://forms.gle/XUh3nSVZf4m8CCq57. The parent volunteer will receive one free student space (or half if there are two) for the class they volunteer for\, and their student(s) will receive a guaranteed space in the class along with early registration if you agree to be the parent volunteer by October 8th. \nScholarships are available. Please reach out to fosbtreasurer@gmail.com.
