DESCRIPTION:*UPDATED START TIME: 6pm* \nJoin us in the Salmon Bay Library for our monthly board meeting. Board meetings are open to all FOSB members – if you have a student at the school\, you are automatically a member and have a vote! Come learn about the work being done by FOSB in support of our school\, and ways YOU can get involved as you are able. \nThere are two votes that require a quorum of 20 non-directors present to pass: our 2025-26 FOSB budget and our 2025-2026 slate of directors and officers. So even if you haven’t attended any FOSB meetings this year\, this is the one! We will also be voting on adoption of some policies that our accountant advises we incorporate. \nWe’ll hold voting in the first portion of our meeting so that 7th and 8th grade camp chaperone parents can make it to the chaperone meeting starting at 7pm – please consider coming to the school early to help us vote! The second portion of our meeting will be a FOSB Open House where we’d like to highlight the various committee chairs and open conversation and brainstorming to plan for next year. This will be an opportunity to put faces to names of some of the people working behind the scenes of FOSB and get ideas for ways you might like to be involved next year.  \nChildcare is available for potty independent children through COHO (Boys & Girls Club); childcare rsvp’s are helpful but not required. DESCRIPTION:Parents of Tweens & Teens \nPrevent Risky Behavior – vaping and other substance use & abuse \nSeattle Public Schools’ Lisa Davidson\, Prevention and Intervention Manager\, and Nathalie Meus\, Healthy Schools Coordinator\, will review: \n– Salmon Bay’s Healthy Youth Survey results (conducted last year) regarding student behaviors and attitudes toward vaping and drugs \n– Key strategies for preventing risky behavior \n– How to have tough conversations \n– Products and trends – vaping\, over the counter drugs\, and much more \nQuestions and open discussion afterwards. Principal Dixon and middle school counselor Rob Bright plan on attending to help provide context and insight. \nFamilies with elementary students\, this event is also for you! Drug prevention starts with parents learning how to talk with their children about difficult topics. Most likely\, children in elementary school have not begun to use alcohol\, tobacco\, or any other kind of drug. It’s better to talk before children are exposed\, which is exactly why elementary school is a good time to start talking about the dangers of drug use so you can prepare your child for a time when drugs may be offered. Join us! \nThis informative evening is for Salmon Bay parents and caregivers – ADULTS ONLY. Free childcare is available for potty independent kids.
