SUMMARY:FOSB May Board meeting
DESCRIPTION:*UPDATED START TIME: 6pm* \nJoin us in the Salmon Bay Library for our monthly board meeting. Board meetings are open to all FOSB members – if you have a student at the school\, you are automatically a member and have a vote! Come learn about the work being done by FOSB in support of our school\, and ways YOU can get involved as you are able. \nThere are two votes that require a quorum of 20 non-directors present to pass: our 2025-26 FOSB budget and our 2025-2026 slate of directors and officers. So even if you haven’t attended any FOSB meetings this year\, this is the one! We will also be voting on adoption of some policies that our accountant advises we incorporate. \nWe’ll hold voting in the first portion of our meeting so that 7th and 8th grade camp chaperone parents can make it to the chaperone meeting starting at 7pm – please consider coming to the school early to help us vote! The second portion of our meeting will be a FOSB Open House where we’d like to highlight the various committee chairs and open conversation and brainstorming to plan for next year. This will be an opportunity to put faces to names of some of the people working behind the scenes of FOSB and get ideas for ways you might like to be involved next year.  \nChildcare is available for potty independent children through COHO (Boys & Girls Club); childcare rsvp’s are helpful but not required. Childcare costs are covered by FOSB. \nIf you are unable to attend in person\, you may join via Zoom. Meeting agendas and previous meeting minutes are posted on our website. Please email fosbchair@gmail.com with any questions.

SUMMARY:CANCELLED: Lenore Skenazy: Childhood Independence
DESCRIPTION:Due to inclement weather\, SPS has cancelled all events for this evening.  Look for a rescheduled date in the future!\n\nParents and caregivers…\n\nFirst\, the bad news… recent research shows that American children are less happy and more anxious than ever before. This matters because how happy you are as a kid is the biggest predictor of how happy—and successful—you’ll be as an adult. \nNow\, the good news… we can change this. For free. And fast. And Lenore Skenazy will tell you how! \nSo\, “Let Grow!”  For 15 years\, Lenore Skenazy has led the movement for childhood independence. She has seen firsthand the transformative power of independence for kids and families. As President and CEO of Let Grow\, the world’s leading organization for childhood independence\, and bestselling author of Free Range Kids\, she advocates for kids’ freedom through evidence-based policy\, community-building\, and curriculum. She’s got ideas aplenty\, she’s not here to judge\, and she’s really\, really funny. \nJoin Lenore Skenazy for an interactive “fireside chat” on Wed\, March 26 at 6:00pm in the school library to discuss the state of childhood and how you can foster childhood independence by stepping back\, so your kids can step up.
