Social Justice Week 2018

SOCIAL JUSTICE WEEK: April 2-6

NEXT WEEK, Salmon Bay will hold our first-ever Social Justice Week from April 2-6! How do we empower our kids and ourselves to navigate a world full of injustices? During this week, we will examine how we can advocate for social justice through a lens of COMPASSION. We will have evening events for community building, in-class content and assemblies that will speak on LGBTQ issues (for older grades) as well as immigration from a historical perspective.
Parent Resources for Practicing Compassion are available here.
Monday, April 2: Wear your social justice issue of choice on a shirt OR wear a solid colored shirt of any color to represent diversity.

Tuesday, April 3 is “A Parent Conversation about Race, Activism, and Community” from 6-8pm Join us at our follow-up conversation to the feedback from “Kids & Race: Changing the Narrative.” We will discuss concrete action steps on how to talk to your children about race, resources and questions through a presentation and community dialogue with Sharon H. Chang in the auditorium. Sharon H. Chang is an award-winning Author, Photographer and Activist with a lens on racism, social justice and the Asian American diaspora. Her inaugural book Raising Mixed Race: Multiracial Asian Children In a Post-Racial World was released in 2016 to critical acclaim.  Her website is https://sharonhchang.com .
