Immigrant Solidarity & Support
The Salmon Bay community is taking an active role in organizing support, sharing accurate information, and responding to concerns regarding the national escalation of immigration enforcement by ICE (U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement) and CBP (U.S. Customs & Border Protection / Border Patrol).
Stay tuned for weekly updates via our newsletter and other channels as we develop and launch our resources, response, and communications teams; and if you’d like to get involved, email SalmonBayConnect@gmail.com or FOSBAdvocacy@gmail.com.

Resources
Know Your Rights & Support Resources
Know Your Rights resources available in many languages, compiled by Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP). Includes flyers and recorded trainings outlining how to best respond as an individual to ICE interactions, safety plans for families, and guides on what to do if a loved one is arrested or detained.
Trainings: Rapid Response & Know Your Rights
The Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN) offers Rapid Response and Know Your Rights trainings to prepare community members to respond to local ICE/CBP activity. WAISN also runs the Deportation Defense Hotline, which mobilizes local teams to verify reports of ICE activity; connects individuals to mutual aid resources, including training; and much more.
Webinar Recordings: Know Your Rights for K-12 Education
English and Spanish recordings from NWIRP. While focused on K-12 education, this webinar also briefly covers the individual rights that apply in private homes and in cars, bystander rights & risks, and what to do if you or someone you know is detained by ICE.
Policies: Seattle Public Schools & WA Office of Superintendent
For those who want to understand SPS policy in better detail, the guidance from Superintendent Procedure 4301SP.B: Limiting Immigration Enforcement at Schools [PDF], is echoed in the district’s very readable Immigration Guidance Review FAQ [PDF] released in June of 2025. Both SPS documents are compliant with, and expand upon, the state-level guidance: Protections for Immigrant Students in Washington’s K–12 Public Schools [PDF], issued by OSPI in January 2025.

K-12 Policy & Legislative Engagement
The Advocacy Committee tracks Seattle Public Schools policy decisions and state education funding to keep our community informed. We encourage families to engage with elected officials and attend school board meetings to advocate for well-resourced, equitable public education.
