6th Grade Orientation with WEB Leaders

September 2 @ 9:45 am - 12:00 pm

Run by Salmon Bay 8th graders and WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) leaders, this event is a fun gathering for 6th graders. Come join us!

(more info, added 8/27):

Our school participates in the nationwide WEB Program (Where Everyone Belongs). WEB is an organization whose sole purpose is to help sixth grade students feel more comfortable, as well as help them achieve success in their first year of middle school.

This orientation and transition program is designed to both welcome and support sixth grade students by assigning them an 8th grade WEB Mentor as a mentor during this first year of middle school. This WEB Mentor is a responsible 8th grade student who was hand selected from a large pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and a positive leader in our community.

Orientation Overview:

Drop-Off Directions: 6th Grade students should be dropped off at Salmon Bay’s lower playground at 9:45 am on Tuesday, September 2nd. Salmon Bay staff will be present to guide them through the attendance process. 6th grade students should look for the WEB Leaders holding signs!

Pick-Up Directions: 6th Grade orientation will end around 12:00 pm. At this time 6th grade students will gather on the lower playfield and wait to be picked up by their parent/guardian. Please make a plan with your student on where to meet or how to contact you to confirm pick-up. 6th grade students may use the phone in the main office to call you if needed. If your student is walking home, please ask them to check in with teacher Sam on the lower playground before they leave.

Sixth grade students are encouraged NOT to bring backpacks, purses or other like items. If your student must bring a cell phone, remind them that Salmon Bay has an “Away for the Day” policy that requires cell phones to be kept in their lockers while at school. Since students will not have been assigned lockers yet, they should turn off any cell phones and make sure they are put away in a small backpack or pocket so they can focus on connecting with their new classmates. Please make sure your student wears comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement.

This is a student-only function. Parents/Guardians will need to let their student(s) attend independently.

We look forward to meeting your student on orientation day!
