Lenore Skenazy: Childhood Independence
March 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

First, the bad news… recent research shows that American children are less happy and more anxious than ever before. This matters because how happy you are as a kid is the biggest predictor of how happy—and successful—you’ll be as an adult.
Now, the good news… we can change this. For free. And fast. And Lenore Skenazy will tell you how!
So, “Let Grow!” For 15 years, Lenore Skenazy has led the movement for childhood independence. She has seen firsthand the transformative power of independence for kids and families. As President and CEO of Let Grow, the world’s leading organization for childhood independence, and bestselling author of Free Range Kids, she advocates for kids’ freedom through evidence-based policy, community-building, and curriculum. She’s got ideas aplenty, she’s not here to judge, and she’s really, really funny.
Join Lenore Skenazy for an interactive “fireside chat” on Wed, March 26 at 6:00pm in the school library to discuss the state of childhood and how you can foster childhood independence by stepping back, so your kids can step up. Please note that while we will be meeting in the library, Lenore Skenazy will be joining us live via Zoom as she lives on the east coast.
- RSVP greatly appreciated, but not required to attend
- Lenore welcomes your questions, thoughts, and/or stories in advance of the event. There will also be opportunities to share during the event.
- Sign-up for free childcare + pizza for potty-independent children of attending adults. Walk-ins welcome, space permitting.
This event is hosted by the FOSB Parent Information Exchange Committee (PIE) and Liz Hunter, Salmon Bay parent, Let Grow Play Club mentor, and childhood independence advocate and writer.
