Get Connected

Did you know that Salmon Bay K-8 has one of the most active caregiver communities in the entire district? That’s you! There are so many ways to stay connected and get involved…

Read SBK8/FOSB bulletin and teacher newsletters

With a child enrolled at SBK8, you automatically receive the weekly SBK8/FOSB Friday Bulletin, which will be sent out by Principal Dixon. You will also receive occasional mid-week emails, directly from the main office with all school-related activities and announcements. You may also automatically receive weekly newsletters and updates from your child’s teacher with classroom-related information. Weekly bulletin archives are available here.

Opt-in to receive advocacy emails

Opt-in here to receive regular emails from the FOSB Advocacy Committee concerning relevant legislative updates, advocacy efforts, and ways to get involved. This information is not typically included in the weekly SBK8/FOSB bulletin and teacher newsletters. You can also join the parent-led, district-wide Fund SPS movement here.

Connect on social media

Join FOSB Facebook (@FriendsofSalmonBay) and Instagram (coming soon) posts and conversations concerning all things SBK8.

Join your grade-level Google groups

Join your grade-level Google and Facebook groups to directly communicate and organize with your peer families in fun and meaningful ways. To be added to the appropriate group(s) managed by the FOSB Building Community Initiative email sb-join-email@googlegroups.com noting which grade(s) to join.

Volunteer at school

Volunteer in the classroom or for school-sponsored activities such as camps and field trips! To do so, please make sure that your appropriate Seattle Public Schools volunteer status is current here. When volunteering for school, don’t forget to sign into the front office and get a badge. Contact SBK8 Volunteer Coordinator, Lara Cowles, with any questions.

Get involved with FOSB

Volunteer your expertise, passion, time, and/or resources in any form to support FOSB efforts that help us build and sustain the people, programs, and activities of our thriving SBK8!

Feel free to ask questions, share feedback, or simply reach out to FOSB co-chairs, specific board members or committee chairs, or join us at any meeting or event!

Communicate your school-related events and information

Share school-related events and information directly with the communication and participation pathways. Or email the final version of your content to fosbcomms@googlegroups.com and we can help get it synched up.
