Spring Play (Grades 2-8)
Hello Salmon Bay Students and Families!
Welcome to the Salmon Bay After School Theatre Spring Play! We would be thrilled to have you as part of our cast or crew, whether you’ve participated in our program in the past or if you’re looking for something new to try out. We’ve worked hard over the past 14 months to develop a model for online plays and classes, and are excited to finish out the school year strong with one last play!
As I’m sure you can imagine, our program looks a little different online than in person. The most important and relevant change is a hard cap on our enrollment for our play, along with a change in age requirements. This year, since the program will be online, we cannot accept more than 24 actors and 6 crew members. After careful consideration, we have also decided that our usual “Just for Fun” or “JFF” model for our youngest cast members will not be as successful or fulfilling online as it is in person. If you know some younger students in the K-2 age group who are interested in doing a theatre class this Spring, please reach out. If there are enough interested students, we would love to offer something specifically for them!
Our spring play is being written specifically for this program. It is, as of yet, untitled, but you can read a brief synopsis below:
Having realized that humans are suddenly obsessed with video calls, three siblings in the Fairytale Realms, Story, Song, and Sway, the daughters of Communication, have been tasked with wrangling their respective groups of characters into performances in this new medium. Some of their characters catch on quickly, while others…not so much. Story encounters problem after problem with her characters, and as she sees her sisters succeeding, she worries about whether she’s good enough to deserve her job.
