Meeting guidelines

Meeting guidelines
  • Meetings start and end on time.
  • We conduct business one item at a time.
  • Courtesy and respect are expected; we assume good intentions and encourage constructive comments. And we appreciate differences and explore impasses.
  • Participatory decision-making requires information beforehand, so we ask that handouts be provided (and reviewed) in advance of meetings to help participants come prepared and informed.
  • We clarify the goal of a discussion or meeting before proceeding.
  • We discourage crosstalk.
  • We limit discussion to the topic at hand.
  • The meeting facilitator may redirect the group back to the topic and serve as timekeeper.
  • We conduct status checks to point out progress being made.
